i had a break between mini sessions at Oregon Ridge Park and used the time to scout out a different site - well HELLO there, magnificent red tree!  i die for red leaves in the fall, and  i don't want all of my clients to have the same pictures -  what fun is that?  tried to text Mama and tell her to meet me at the other side of the park but the phone # i had on file from last fall was no good anymore. { note to self: always ask for a phone #, even for returning clients.... } Facebook to the rescue! PM sent, raced back to our original meeting spot, and arrived to find them with kids still buckled in and ready to follow me to this gorgeous spot.... which happens to be right next to the playground. everybody wins!

introducing chloe! her mama is one of my best friends from college, and when they made the trip back to the east coast for a few days, i couldn't pass up the opportunity to get her delightful smile on record. love you both to pieces - xox

so much fun with this sweet little girl and her parents at  patterson park, in september! a little late on posting -- enjoy a dose of end-of-summer vibes...

so i might have taken a ridiculous number of pictures of this one family on this particular morning, because dragon boots. and, because we got rained out of our original appointment the day before, and they were the only family that could make it to mini-session make-up day (don't worry, the other families got first dibs on another day) so i didn't have anywhere to rush off to, and the sky was soooooo blue and the kids were doing great, so i might have spent more than 20 minutes with them.... maybe. but back to the boots. i don't know what makes rain boots so much fun, but  my boy loves wearing his big yellow galoshes and i can't tell you how many smiles he inspires.  so i think everyone should own a pair. and should wear them in the sunshine. and we can all smile.

a first birthday is about so many things. it's not just the anniversary of the day your lives changed forever. it's a celebration of all the milestones your little one has passed, how much they've grown, what they've learned....and, it's about you. yes, YOU. you did it. let me say that again: YOU DID IT. you nurtured this little being all the way from helpless to the beginning stages of independence. and you SURVIVED. so it's your party, too.  and after the planning and crafting and cooking finally comes to life and it's all right there in front of you - don't forget to take a moment to soak it all in. {and if that sounds like the impossible dream, be sure to  hire a photographer  so you can soak it all in later, in your pjs, with a glass of wine  ;) }
